by drghastly, 131 days agoWhen Niku, Dreamblade, Trammel and I started this guild we had several goals and values in mind. Here are some of them, in no particular order:
1. Take raiding serious, but not too serious.
2. Be understanding of real life dilemmas and commitments.
3. Assemble a group of leaders who not only have the intelligence and skill to make things happen, but also know how to rely upon and inspire others in what is, after all, a team-based game.
4. Gather a team of excellent and talented players that both know what they are doing but also know how to help each other.
5. Have fun. It's a game, not a freaking job, which some people fail to understand.
I can honestly say that not only have are we meeting those goals, we are destroying them.
We obviously take raiding seriously because we are the second guild on the server to get Champion of Ulduar. We are also the first to do CoU without having anyone running around in 25 man Ulduar gear with the possible exception of one or two pieces of gear off 25 man FL, which I don't count since we 10 manned that #%$@$#%! /flex We also are the third guild on the server to do Yogg 3 lights, share that achievement as a 10 man guild with only one other, and are one of the few to do Knock, Knock on Wood! Yet we also don't take raiding too seriously. FL 25 with 10 people is hilarious!
When people are not able to make a raid night, we don't chastise or berate them, we simply find a backup from our excellent backup pool and carry on. Not only do we carry on, but we still excel!
Our leaders (yeah this may sound hubristic) know their classes, their class roles, and how to come up with working strategies to get the job done. We showed this on Mimiron, who we got
before his nerf, based on our
own strategy. We showed it on Hodir hard mode and, most recently, we showed it on Yogg 3 Lights! Our leaders come up with strategies for success and then help all of our members aspire to the goals set forth.
Finally, all of our members rock. Without exception they take raiding seriously and do their best, even on nights where we're just burned out and want to go watch tv or go to sleep. Our members know how to play thier classes, know what their strengths are, how to minimize weaknesses, and know how to have fun. The leaders who come up with strategies? None of that would mean jack without members intelligent enough to work together to implement them. Hell, a lot of our good ideas come FROM the members.
All of us make it possible, and all of us kick freaking ass.
